Redvale Landfill
Landfills produce large quantities of gas resulting from the natural decomposition of highly compacted refuse. The gas is extracted and used for the production of electricity.
Description of facility:
Redvale has installed nine, one megawatt generators to produce electricity from the landfill gas it produces. Apart from servicing minimal on-site requirements, all power generated is exported into the national grid, providing enough energy to power the equivalent of 7,500 homes.
