Happy Valley Landfill Gas Power Generation

Nova Gas collects biogas from the Wellington Southern Landfill. AECOM assisted with the overall design and construction management of a 1 MW power generation plant and potential to expand to 2MW.

Description of facility:

AECOM provided advice and engineering services in close co-operation with the client and contractor to minimise procurement and construction time. Detailed tasks included:

- Review of landfill data
- Site selection and plant layout
- Advice on improved landfill gas extraction
- Design and specification of the gas treatment plant
- Advice on the modification of a flare
- Design and specification of process control equipment
- Design and specification of communication interfaces
- Design of the electrical earth grid
